COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A gunfight at a Cobb County apartment complex ended with a Kennesaw State student dead. Police said the suspect’s mother was also injured.
Officers responded late Sunday night to the Bixby Apartments on Busbee Parkway across from Fifth Third Stadium.

Police said 22-year-old Anthony Lockett had been arguing with someone in one of the apartments.
Police said Lockett left, but came back with his family members and fired multiple shots inside the apartment. One of the bullets hit 24-year-old Jalen Parker, who later died at the hospital.
Police said someone living in the apartment fired back and one of those bullets hit Lockett’s mother. She is stable at the hospital.
Cobb County police have charged Lockett with felony murder and aggravated assault.

Bixby Apartments are marketed as off-campus apartments for Kennesaw State students, according to the complex’s website.
Kennesaw State University confirmed that Parker was a mechanical engineering student.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victims’ family, friends, and the campus community during this incredibly difficult time,” said KSU President Kathy S. Schwaig.
