AUSTELL, Ga. — The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating a deadly crash in Austell.
According to police, the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday on the East-West Connector at the intersection with Felton Hill Road.
Officers said that a white 2015 Maserati M157 was driving westbound when, for reasons unknown, the driver failed to stay in their lane and entered a dedicated right turn lane for Felton Hill Road.

Police say the Maserati kept driving northwest, striking a traffic light pole and the signal control box next to before coming to an uncontrolled stop facing northeast, with the traffic signal pole in its center, police said.
The driver was thrown from and trapped under the vehicle, according to CCPD and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

While the driver’s family has been notified of his death, his identity was not released.
Police said the crash remains under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to call the CCPD STEP Unit at 770-499-3987.
