Cobb County Schools removes 2 more books, including kidnapping victim’s memoir

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale announced on Thursday that two more books are being removed from the schools’ libraries.

Ragsdale said the books are being removed for “containing pictures, drawings, or descriptions that are inappropriate for a public school library for minors because of their lewd, obscene, or graphically sexual nature.”

The books being removed are “Triangles” by Ellen Hopkins and “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Dugard.

In 1991, Dugard was 11 years old when she was kidnapped. She remained missing for more than 18 years before being rescued in 2009. For years, she was raped and sexually abused, including being impregnated against her will twice.

“A Stolen Life” is Dugard’s memoir that was published in 2011. Dugard said one of her reasons for publishing the book was to provide a descriptive account of what the victims of child sexual abuse go through.
