When winter weather forces school to close, parents rush to Altitude Trampoline Park in East Cobb with their children.
Manager Jack Stressinger told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell a line of parents and children, formed out of the door Tuesday morning.
“Getting off school randomly, we’ve had a bunch of calls come in, just saying “Hey are you guys open?” Right when the first manager came in and opened the store she was answering phone calls the whole day,” said Stressinger.
Nearly 500 parents and their children packed the trampoline park not long after the doors opened on Tuesday.
“I try to take her to (a) place where she can be active,” said Marlon Delancey, a father and a teacher in Atlanta.
Delancey said he gave his students a virtual assignment to ensure they were engaged at home.
“We have to make sure the work is there for them to do so they’re not just sitting around,” said Delancey.
Some parents who couldn’t find childcare or call off work could be seen keeping an eye on their children from Altitude’s parent lounge as they worked virtually.

The Cobb County School District and the Marietta City Schools announced school closures on Monday, citing concerns about the winter weather.
“Altitude is super fun. You get to jump and do whatever you want,” said fifth-grader Brooks McCaleb.
While parents are thankful they found a place like Altitude Trampoline Park to bring their children, some have mixed reactions about shutting down the school.
“Missing school is missing school. They need to go and be there and be present. The weather didn’t affect the roads so I feel like we could’ve (gone) to school today. It is hard for parents to come up last minute and try to find things for our kids to do,” said Lisa Ulrich.
“It’s always better to be safe. We were sitting and waiting for our school to give us the notice,” said Delancey.
Tuesday is the second snow day for the Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools in less than two weeks. Throughout the day, both districts communicated regularly with parents about plans for Wednesday.
Marietta City Schools and Cobb County School District will operate on a two-hour delay for Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the Cobb County School District said built-in severe weather days, prevent Cobb students from making up missed days.
Marietta City Schools will not require students to make up snow days.
