Murder victim in Cobb County was a mother of five, brother says

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — One day after police arrested a man accused of killing a mother of five, her family is thanking the Cobb County Police Department for finding the suspect quickly.

“I’m glad that the investigation went so easy and so well and I want to thank the state of Georgia and Cobb County for bringing my sister to justice,” said Arsene Williams.

Camillia Williams family lives in Louisiana where she is originally from.

Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell spoke exclusively with Camillia’s brothers.

Tony Williams said he spoke with his sister last week and tried to get her to move back to Louisiana.

He described his sister as someone who had a personality as big as her heart. Williams was also a grandmother, an aunt and the youngest of 13 siblings.

“Her kids are going to miss her,” he told Newell. “Her grandkids are going to miss her.”

Lloyd Gioe reflected on the times he shared with his sister, “Whenever me and her got together it was like old times nothing stopped between us” he told Newell.

Arsene Williams said he is going to miss hearing from his sister and having conversations with her.

A homeowner told Newell off camera she discovered Williams' body concealed in her Camellia bush, she said a sweater was partly covering Williams' face.

Williams' family said the name of Camillia and the name of the bush is ironic.

“When they found her in the bushes we looked at the bushes real close and it just happens to be a Camellia bush,” Arsene Williams said.

The family said they want justice for Camillia. Her brother Arsene Williams said she was at a store the night before she died and told one of her nieces that a man had been following her.

“She called the dude a weirdo and from my understanding, he pretty much waited until he caught her by herself and did what he done,” Arsene Williams said.

Williams brothers told Newell that Camillia didn’t know the suspect.

The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements, planning to bury Williams in Louisiana where she is from.

“It’s hard to believe that this is really truly happening,” Arsene Williams said. “I don’t know how to absorb it right now.”

Police said they found Williams’ body off of Pat Mell Road on Thursday.

Hector David Sagastume Rivas is charged with felony murder in her death. According to the arrest warrant Rivas physically assaulted Williams by choking her until she lost consciousness’.

Investigators said Rivas admitted to placing his knee and the full weight of his body on Williams' neck, causing her death.

Williams' body was discovered two days after police say Rivas murdered Williams.
