Father wants his son’s Fulton elementary teacher arrested for throwing him on the ground

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Fulton County father wants his 9-year-old son’s teacher arrested for assault.

Michael Wilbourn said his son was wrestling with a classmate at Campbell Elementary School when his teacher grabbed him by the shirt and threw him.

“On the left side and snatched him and threw him to the floor, and he felt like he was in a fight, man,” the father said.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones learned the teacher has been placed on administrative leave. But Wilbourn says that’s not enough.

“I need her arrested. I need her arrested for assault,” he said.

He also thinks his child’s third-grade teacher needs professional help.

“I believe she needs anger management,” Wilbourn said.

Wilbourn shared pictures with Channel 2 Action News that show bruises on his son’s chest he says were caused by the teacher’s actions.

The father says he and his wife didn’t find out what happened until the next day when another teacher reported what happened.

“They found out that it wasn’t one teacher that saw it, saw the incident. It was two teachers that saw the incident, along with four students,” he said.

Jones reached out to Fulton County Schools about this incident. The district says there is an ongoing investigation underway and the teacher was placed on administrative leave.

“Still to this day I still don’t have no closure,” Wilbourn stated.

He says he filed a report with school police but after three weeks, he has heard nothing. He doesn’t think the teacher should ever be allowed back in a classroom.

“I need her out the school system. No other parent need to go through this,” he said.

Wilbourn says his child didn’t initially tell him what happened because he was afraid to get the teacher in trouble.
