ROSWELL, Ga. — Back online.
The United States Postal Service is back to accepting packages from Hong Kong and China. That is after USPS said it would not accept those same packages Tuesday.
It is the latest change that could impact business, as trade negotiations continue.
For 15 years, Fahad Pathan has built his Indian Hair Shop in metro Atlanta. His business is dependent on shipments from other countries.
“You don’t have a lot of choice, you have to suck it up and figure it out,” said Pathan who has been watching as USPS stopped accepting packages from Hong Kong and China.

It is a decision that was reversed Wednesday, although it is not clear why.
USPS suggested the change was related to new tariffs imposed on China Tuesday as President Trump recently terminated a long-standing rule that allow packages worth less than $800 to be shipped without duties or inspections.
For Fahad, he is concerned about what could come next.
“Because my margins are small, anything that now changes I have to make adjustments.”
Economist Ray Hill said right now it is not clear where the trade war is going. But it will have an impact on everyone.

“The small businessman who is importing from China, he’s going to have higher cost, he’s going to pass it on to consumers,” said Dr. Hill.
For Fahad, who said he is worked hard to not increase his prices even during COVID, he said he is watching and waiting, hoping debates over trade soon smooth.
“There’s really nothing small business owners can do about this,” said Pathan.
