TRENDING STORIES:

Here’s what commissioners are asking for lawmakers to do during the current session.

More Judges and Judicial Resources:

The Fulton County Commission is asking for more judgeships at its Superior Court to handle its high volume of cases and its “unique level of complex cases.”

According to the county presentation, they’re also seeking local legislation to be approved that will let Superior Court judicial officers take on “non-serious felony and civil cases by assignment of the Chief Judge. Increasing the authority of judicial officers, who currently handle only family law cases, will create greater efficiency with the case management process.”

Additionally, the county is asking state lawmakers to allocate two more State Court judges to Fulton County.

Investment in Behavioral Health

Fulton County commissioners are asking for ongoing funding and additional funding to its behavior health crisis centers from the state’s Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities.

In addition to extra funding, commissioners are asking for an increased availability of mental health beds for justice-involved individuals.
