Georgia among the states with the most flu cases, CDC says

ATLANTA — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the state of Georgia currently has a “very high” rate of flu activity.

Each week, the CDC publishes data on the number of flu cases in each state. This week, Georgia had enough cases to be listed among the highest states.

Nationwide, nine states are listed in the very high category, including Alabama, California, Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Currently, New Mexico, South Carolina and Tennessee are listed in a higher category than the other states.

The Georgia Department of Public Health has not yet published the exact number of cases statewide. But last week, 269 Georgians were hospitalized with the flu.
