AUGUSTA, Ga. — The principal of an east Georgia high school has been arrested on a DUI charge, WJBF reported.
LaQuanda Carpenter, principal at Cross Creek High School in Augusta, was arrested on Dec. 22.

Carpenter, 50, was charged with 1st offense DUI, .10 but less than .16, by North Augusta Department of Public Safety and booked into the Aiken County Detention Center.
She has since been released.

The Richmond County School System shared a statement with WJBF that read,
“The Richmond County School System is aware of the arrest and pending charges arising from an off-campus incident involving the principal of Cross Creek High School. The school system is actively investigating this matter. Because the investigation involves a personnel matter, the school system is unable to provide any additional information at this time. Thank you for your understanding.”
