Georgia singer earns coveted spot in American Idol’s top 24

After back-to-back elimination nights on American Idol, the top 24 has finally been selected.

The judges narrowed this season’s class down from almost 200 people who made it to Hollywood and one Georgian heard his name called for the top 24.

Willie Spence, 21, was one of the lucky contestants selected. Spence grew up in Douglas, Georgia and lives in the Dunwoody area now. Spence gave a show-stopping cover of Beyoncé's “I Was Here.”

Unfortunately, the road ended for another contestant from Georgia. DeKalb County native Xavier Washington was eliminated.
