15-year-old injured, 18-year-old arrested after shooting outside Mall of Georgia

BUFORD, Ga. — A shooting outside of the Mall of Georgia left a 15-year-old injured, Gwinnett County Police tell Channel 2 Action News.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Gwinnett police say an officer working security at the mall heard gunshots and ran toward where they were coming from.

Police saw someone trying to run from the scene and said the officer took a person into custody.

On Sunday, Gwinnett police arrested 18-year-old Khaden Williams, of DeKalb County. He’s charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The victim, only identified as a 15-year-old boy was hit by the gunfire and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.

According to GCPD, the shooting happened outside the mall shortly after closing.
