The deadly crash happened at Old Fountain Road and Old Peachtree Road near Dacula. Gwinnett County Police have not released the victims’ identities as the investigation continues.
Neighbor Jackie Alvarez and her family witnessed the aftermath of Monday evening’s crash.
“We just saw a big crash and saw all the people out there, a lot of police cars and ambulance,” Alvarez said.
The intersection has troubled residents for months, with Alvarez noting that the most recent crash happened on Mother’s Day.
“For almost every holiday, we’ve been seeing a car crash at that intersection,” she said.
Transportation officials recently installed left-turn signals at the location hoping to improve safety, but neighbors remain concerned about speeding drivers.
“All the time, especially when you’re turning either left or right,” Alvarez explained.
Cell phone video captured police investigating the scene as officers worked to determine what caused the Memorial Day tragedy. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“I feel sorry for the family that had to go through that, especially on Memorial Day,” Alvarez said.
