The three men accused of murdering beloved football coach Bradley Coleman in Gwinnett County are standing trial together, with prosecutors on Thursday using the suspects’ cell phones as evidence in the 2022 killing in Peachtree Corners.
Josiah Hughley, 22, is accused of shooting and killing the 29-year-old father while attempting to steal his car with two other young men. An investigator with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office testified that cell phone data from Hughley’s phone placed him at the scene at the time of Coleman’s death.
“It began to move south and southwest, consistent with movement on Peachtree Parkway,” said investigator John Wilbanks.
David Booker and Miles Collins are also on trial for murder, accused of aiding in the attempted theft while being gang members. Prosecutors say the phones of all suspects were in the area at the time.
On Thursday, forensic biologist Laurie Mann testified that a mask left at the scene potentially contained DNA belonging to the accused shooter.
“There was also support for Josiah Hughley as a possible contributor to that sample,” Mann said.
Testimony wrapped up Thursday evening and is expected to resume Friday.
