GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Less than a week after a Gwinnett County family thought they could lose their home when a car crashed into it, they’re moving back in.

Channel 2′s Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson was in Buford, where the family learned they didn’t have to pay a dime for the repairs.

Five days ago, a hole in the Morales family’s mobile home had them worried they’d never be able to afford to move back in.

Now, their home looks like new after some generosity and some prayer.

“I appreciate (it), from everybody,” Daniel Morales said.

The team at Big House Construction stepped in on Wednesday to start rebuilding the family’s Buford home.

Sunday night, Gwinnett County police say a neighbor lost control and plowed into their house, killing himself and damaging their home.

“We thought it was an earthquake because everything was moving,” Morales said. “This has changed my life. You have your house and the next day... my family doesn’t have any clothes. I don’t know what to do.”

Police identified the driver as 36-year-old Jordan Gonzalez. Neighbors said he lived with his family across the street from the house that police say he hit.

Matthew Critten brought a team from Cobb County to Gwinnett and covered all the costs of the estimated $15,000 job.

“It feels great to be able to get this family back in their home,” Critten said.

Morales, his wife, and three children have new floors and new paint.

The team that worked on the house had to make sure the damage beyond the bedroom was repaired.

“It did shift the house a little bit but we were able to square it back up, now the front door works, it was just about shimmying up in the other direction,” Critten said.

Morale says he didn’t prepare for such a catastrophic accident but he’s thankful he was blessed in his darkest moment.

“I love the new house. Thank you,” Morales said.

He wants to focus now on making sure his wife is healed from her injuries and making sure his kids are emotionally OK. The family set up a GoFundMe to help with expenses.
