DULUTH, Ga. — Two suspected shoplifters are behind bars after leading police on a wild foot chase in Gwinnett County.

Recently, while Duluth officers were patrolling, they were flagged down by a Walmart manager. The manager said two suspects were trying to leave the store with a cart with more than $4,000 worth of unpaid items.
Bodycam video shows officers approaching one of the suspects. The suspect left the cart and ran away, but he was quickly caught. Police said he also had a wallet belonging to someone else.

During the same shoplifting incident, a manager identified another suspect. The suspect ran away on foot but was arrested after a brief chase.
The woman gave officers a fake ID, but Duluth police confirmed her identity and learned she had multiple outstanding warrants.
The suspects admitted to police they had used fentanyl before the incident.
The suspects’ ages and identities were not released. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store, and the suspects face several charges, including felony theft by shoplifting and obstruction of law enforcement. They were booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
