Suspect arrested after man killed, woman shot after party in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A man is now in custody and charged with murder, aggravated assault and gun charges after a fight at a party led to gunfire.

Gainesville police say Kendrick Deshaun Goss, 44, shot and killed Kendrick McClendin at a Texaco on Athens Street on Monday after an altercation at a party. A woman who was with McClendin was also shot in the arm.

There is no word on the woman’s identity or condition.

Channel 2′s Bryan Mims was at the gas station on Monday during Channel 2 Action News as police centered their investigation on a car that had severe damage, including a window that had been shot out.

“I am thankful for the teamwork by multiple agencies and the community, who came together to quickly solve this crime and apprehend the one responsible for the senseless death,” Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish said.

A witness who did not want to be identified told Mims that McClendin was shot in the car and walked into the convenience store for help.

Goss is being held in the Hall County Jail.
