HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Thousands of Henry County School employees are scrambling, after they were informed that their pay would be delayed due to the recent winter weather.
The district informing the more than 6,000 employees Thursday, that payroll would be adjusted from Friday to Wednesday, Jan. 29. In a district, where employees only get paid monthly, the delay has some feeling financially stressed.

“We have waited five weeks to get paid. And now we are not going to get paid for another week…a lot of us are spent and we have nothing left,” said one employee.
In an email to employees, the district stated that “the extended closure of district and school facilities this week due to inclement winter weather and hazardous road conditions” was to blame for the delay.

A district spokesperson shared with Channel 2 Action News, that due to the weather, “staff members were unable to access the District Office to review materials and complete collaborative, in-person tasks necessary to ensure all payroll processes are completed accurately.”
The spokesperson adding that they apologize for the delay in payroll and will be using this opportunity to assess and improve going forward.
