Despite wearing a helmet, his injuries included a ruptured liver that caused internal bleeding and a fractured skull, which led to a brain bleed. He also fractured the left side of his face, as well as a rib, shoulder blade and collarbone.
His family is still hopeful that Shamar can make a full recovery.
“From motivating others to lead healthier lifestyles and working out to bringing joy and laughter to every room he enters, Shamar has touched countless lives with his positive spirit and sense of humor,” his family wrote.
