METRO ATLANTA — North Georgia school districts are currently weighing their options for Friday ahead of a winter storm that will move through the area.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says a winter storm watch is now in effect for nearly all of north Georgia until Saturday morning.

WEATHER ON THE WAY
- System continues to trend colder with significant snowfall accumulation now likely north metro/mountains
- A winter mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow likely around I-20
- Precipitation types will likely change multiple times during the storm
- Farther south, expect a wintry mix to changeover to rain over far southern tier of counties
- Temperatures will stay near freezing through the storm
- Improving weather by Saturday afternoon.
