CLOSURES: What GA school districts are canceling, moving to virtual learning for winter weather?

METRO ATLANTA — North Georgia school districts are currently weighing their options for Friday ahead of a winter storm that will move through the area.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says a winter storm watch is now in effect for nearly all of north Georgia until Saturday morning.

Here is a list of the school districts and colleges in the Channel 2 Action News viewing area that updated their schedules for Friday.

WEATHER ON THE WAY

  • System continues to trend colder with significant snowfall accumulation now likely north metro/mountains
  • A winter mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow likely around I-20
  • Precipitation types will likely change multiple times during the storm
  • Farther south, expect a wintry mix to changeover to rain over far southern tier of counties
  • Temperatures will stay near freezing through the storm
  • Improving weather by Saturday afternoon.
