FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Florida man blames Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines for ruining his golf equipment. His golf bag was burned and his clubs charred.
He says what was even more frustrating was that the claim he submitted to pay for the damage was initially denied. But, that’s not how this story ends.

After a flight home to Florida, John Andre’s golf game was on fire. But, for all the wrong reasons.
“These have been dragged and then they caught fire,” Andre said.
Andre picked up his golf clubs from Southwest Florida International Airport’s baggage claim on Oct. 20.
He checked his clubs onto a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta.
“And then I realized when it came around again... “Oh my god! These are my clubs!” The freight guy said they dragged it. Of course, it wore through the protective covering, then they started to spark and then it caught everything on fire,” Andre explained.

Andre and his wife filed this claim with the airline. It detailed almost four thousand dollars in damages.
A claim he says Delta Air Lines denied on Wednesday.
“We have to make it right. And in that case, that means writing a check for the value of the clubs. That’s all we’re asking for,” Andre said.
On Thursday night Andre got a call from Delta.
“We got a phone call from Delta and the miracle of miracles, they apologized and they’re going to pay the claim in full,” Andre said.
Andre said it was frustrating to go through, but he’s glad he can now put this behind him.
