NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Should something happen to you, saving your scent could help local investigators.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office spent the past week hosting Scent Preservation Kit sessions at Palmer Stone Elementary.
The tool allows deputies to store your particular scent for 10 years.

The sheriff’s office tells Channel 2 Action News that the scent will help K9 units, should they have to search for you.
Deputies were able to provide 150 free kits thanks to a grant from the US Department of Justice.
