ROSWELL, Ga. — A SWAT officer was shot twice and a suspect was shot and killed on Friday afternoon.
NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene and saw officers and a SWAT team at the home.
Roswell Police Chief James Conroy said officers were serving a warrant at a home on Ansley Drive off Old Alabama Road.
The arrest warrant was related to an incident where the suspect fired a gun into the air on New Year’s Eve after being asked to leave a party.
Because the suspect, whose identity has not been released, has a history of violence, Roswell police asked North Fulton SWAT to lead the arrest.

While serving the warrant, one of the suspects ran out of the back and started firing at an officer, shooting him twice in the chest. The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest, but was injured by shrapnel. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The officer who was shot returned fire, shooting and killing the suspect, whose identity has not been released.
Conroy added that four agencies are on the scene and did not confirm which agency the officer belonged to.
Neither the suspect or the officer’s identity has been released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that they have been called out to assist in the investigation.
