HOGANSVILLE, Ga. — The Hogansville Police Department, in Troup County, confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that one of their officers is on leave after the department received a complaint accusing him of sexual assault.
The department said they received the complaint on Monday and he was put on leave immediately. Due to the investigation underway, they have not identified the officer.
Hogansville police confirmed the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working on an independent investigation into the allegations and the department has also requested an outside agency conduct an administrative investigation.
“The Hogansville Police Department is committed to transparency and accountability and will provide updates as more information becomes available. This is an open investigation, and information critical to the investigation cannot be released at this time,” the department said.
Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the GBI or the Hogansville Police Department.
Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the GBI for more information and and are waiting for their response.
