The FBI and Homeland Security were called out to 180 Ted Turner Drive around 9:30 p.m. after Atlanta police initially responded.
The building houses the ICE Atlanta field office along with immigration court.
The evidence collected was out on the sidewalk, including a plastic lighter and a shopping bag with what looked like two bottles of lighter fluid. Once they cleared the scene, our Channel 2 Action News crew got a closer look and found no damage or sign that anything caught fire.
The FBI provided a statement to Channel 2 Action News, reading:
“The FBI is investigating reports that an incendiary device was thrown at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in downtown Atlanta at approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 20. FBI personnel and evidence response technicians are on site collecting evidence. There is no known threat to public safety at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are currently available.”
