$5,000 reward offered to find mom accused of killing her son, 1. She’s also pregnant again

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — Detectives are trying to find a mother accused of murdering her child.

A $5,000 reward has been issued for information that could help to find Gloria Wright.

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne that the last time it could confirm Wright’s whereabouts was on Jan 8. when was interviewed by an investigator the day her baby died.

“We have a small child that has lost its life in the hands of its mother and we would like to get this mother in custody because she is currently carrying another child right now, so we would like to get her in custody for her safety and for the safety of that child,” Rockdale County Sheriff’s investigator Grote Levett said.

The sheriff’s office said a 911 call came in from a house on Hamlet Walk and it ultimately led the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to a murder case with a victim just learning to walk.

“Deputies arrived and located a 1-year-old child not breathing. The mother Gloria Wright made the 911 call,” Christine Nesbitt with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office said.

Nesbitt said they transported Wright to the sheriff’s office for an interview about the same time an ambulance transported Wright’s 1-year-old boy to a hospital where he died.

That interview took place before forensics came back that showed the death was a homicide.

The cause of death came back as blunt force trauma to the head.

Nesbitt said that the interview represents the last time investigators knew the whereabouts of Wright, who has now been accused of the murder of her baby as well as cruelty to children first degree.

The sheriff’s office is hoping a $5,000 reward through Crime Stoppers will help capture Wright.

“They can still remain anonymous and collect the reward for up to $5,000,” Nesbitt said.

Levett said Wright had no car, so they believe Wright may be getting help from someone.

A warrant referred to Wright “intentionally causing multiple acute skull fractures.”

“A telephone call with the medical examiner who assisted in the autopsy did conclude that the acute skull fractures were not the result of an accidental fall or drop,” the warrant said.

Winne learned that Wright’s driver’s license shows she’s 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs 167 pounds, though she may be heavier since she is pregnant.

“She has curly hair, she has a tattoo on the side of her face, and she is 23 years old, and she is currently pregnant,” Levett said. “We know she has resided in Newton County, Rockdale County and Henry County.”
