The chaotic scene unfolded in the afternoon along Milstead Avenue.
Channel 2’s Audrey Washington reports that a man police said was under a medical evaluation at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital but reportedly walked out and went to his home.
While inside, he made a phone call into the Channel 2 Action News newsroom.
“The communication started through you all, WSB, when he called into the center and reported that we were outside,” said Captain Quantavis Garcia with the Conyers Police Department.
Police said they considered the man armed and dangerous, and they shut down the surrounding area. After nearly two hours of negotiations, he surrendered.
“He made threats to shoot it out with officers,” Garcia told Washington.

Police said they first arrested the man Saturday for the unlawful entry of a car. They said during the arrest the man resisted and acted erratically.
They said the man was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
“He has been transferred to the Rockdale County Jail on arrest warrants,” Garcia said.
