GRIFFIN, Ga. — Griffin police arrested a man who was wanted on two felony warrants.

On Saturday, officers responded to the 600 block of Haskell Drive at around 10:30 p.m. to reports of a man beating on a woman’s apartment door.

When officers arrived, police say the man, identified as Andre Casey, tried to run away.

Police said Casey, who has been charged under the gang act multiple times, pulled away and that officers had to put him on the ground.

Police said Casey refused to put his hands behind his back and they had to force him to do so. Paramedics tried to check him for injuries but said he was uncooperative with them.

Once he arrived at the jail, police said Casey told jail staff he had taken Percocet pills, forcing the staff to refuse custody and take him to a hospital.

Officers said they placed Casey in the back of a patrol car to go to the hospital and found a gun in the rear floorboard.

Officers reviewed their in-car camera and said they saw that Casey removed the gun from his pants while handcuffed and placed it beside him on the floorboard.

He was charged with violation of bond conditions of no contact with the victim in this case related to previous charges, felony obstruction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and crossing the guard line with a firearm.
