ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they caught a Transportation Security Administration officer with a gun past a security checkpoint earlier this week.
Officers arrested Matthew Gilbert, 58, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday. Gilbert was booked on a reckless conduct charge in Clayton County and released on Thursday night.
In a statement to Channel 2 Action News, a TSA spokesperson said it is aware of Gilbert’s arrest.
“TSA has zero tolerance for misconduct on or off duty and the officer involved has been removed from screening status, placed on leave pending further action, based on resolution of the case. Passenger and employee safety is top priority for TSA, and we are working closely with our Atlanta Airport Police partners on this incident.”
