According to a statement by the White House, the Presidential Citizens Medal is awarded to American citizens who have “performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.”

The school maintains campuses in Savannah, Atlanta, and a residential study-abroad location in Lacoste, France.

“Together,” Biden said of the recipients, “you embody - and I mean this from the bottom of my heart - the central truth: We’re a great nation because we’re a good people.”

The Presidential Citizens Medal is the second-highest civilian award in the United States, second only to the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
