GARLAND, Texas — Police have arrested two men they say stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Lego sets across four states.

Investigators said that Brian Fleming and Ladarion Anderson would buy small sets in the store and would alter the receipts to look like they bought more expensive ones.

Their partners would then return to the store, grab the Lego sets, and walk out.

Police said if they were stopped by an employee, they would give them the fake receipts.

Court documents show that the alleged Lego theft crew made off thousands of dollars in Lego sets from big box stores across parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Over the course of two years, the group grew to as many as 10 people who stole more than $400k in merchandise.

They allegedly sold the Lego sets to a dealer, who flipped them on Amazon or eBay for a profit.

Ultimately, it was a state trooper who pulled the men over during a traffic stop. Investigators said they had stolen sets inside their car and detectives were able to trace them to Fleming and Anderson.

Authorities believe the Lego crime ring started in 2021.
