WHAT TIME WILL THE SNOW AND ICE ARRIVE?

The snow and winter mix arrives between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Some of it will be heavy through Friday morning.

As we go through the day, the north metro and north Georgia mountains will stay mainly snow with a bit of mixing with sleet and freezing rain. The farther south you go, the snow will transition to more sleet, freezing rain, and even just rain.

Gradually, more freezing rain, sleet and rain mixes in from south to north starting in the late morning hours. The combination will lead to difficult travel on Friday afternoon and Friday evening.

The winter mix will end early Saturday morning.

Temperatures will stay in the upper 30s today and drop into the upper 20s overnight Friday into Saturday, setting the stage for freezing/frozen precipitation

Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.
