Chance for severe storms late Friday to early Saturday

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

A very active weather pattern is about to get underway this evening and heading into the weekend across north Georgia.

Several rounds of scattered and severe thunderstorms are in the forecast. That includes a moderate chance of damaging wind gusts, a moderate risk of hail - possibly large hail – and even the risk of a brief tornado.

The threat of a brief tornado is going up, especially in northwest and west Georgia, both tonight and tomorrow.

As we head toward sunset tonight, scattered downpours and storms will develop across north Georgia.

It should be quieter on the south side, while Atlanta and northward is where Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking the best chance for a strong or severe storm late this evening and overnight.
