DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A family is heartbroken after a father was found shot to death behind the wheel of his truck early Wednesday.
DeKalb County police said they found the victim’s body in a F-150 truck on Flat Shoals Road, just east of Interstate 20, and they briefly shut down the road to investigate.
Police continued to collect evidence at the scene in the morning and afternoon. Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach spoke with family members there, who identified the victim as a 30-year-old father.
“He wasn’t a troublemaker, didn’t get in no trouble,” said Serintha Gray, the victim’s aunt. “And we’re trying to figure out and understand why.”

The family says he was leaving the Highlands of East Atlanta apartment complex around 2 a.m. when someone opened fire on his truck.
He died in the shooting. His truck kept going and crashed across the road from the apartment entrance.
Gehlbach could see at least one bullet hole on the truck’s driver’s side rear door.
DeKalb County Police Crime Scene Investigators are working to determine the circumstances behind the driver’s death. They have not released the name of the victim or publicly identified any suspects.
The family urged anyone with information to come forward.
“This was just nonsense, killed an innocent man in his truck, close range,” Grey said. “They need to turn their self in, because we’re not going to rest till we get justice.”
