DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man with half a dozen arrest warrants against him is now in custody after holding people in an apartment against their will on Thursday morning.

Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach was at an apartment complex on Fairington Ridge Circle during Channel 2 Action News This Morning as officers and a SWAT team surrounded a building.

Police say they were called to the apartment complex just before 2:15 a.m. when a juvenile called 911 and said she was hiding in the bathroom and was scared to come out after her mother’s boyfriend came into the home.

The child said Calvin Millbrooks, 31, was stopping her, her mother and her younger sibling from leaving the apartment.

When officers tried to talk to Millbrooks, he wouldn’t come to the door. Several hours later, officers got into the apartment through a window and were able to get the three victims out and arrest Millbrooks.

Gehlbach saw officers escort two people from one of the buildings. No one was hurt.

Investigators say Millbrooks had six active domestic violence warrants from incidents involving the same victims. He was also out on bond for another incident involving the family and was given a no-contact order as a condition of his release.

A witness told Gehlbach that police had been at the complex for the last three nights, but he wasn’t sure who they were looking for.
