DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — It could take several days for crews to repair a water main break in DeKalb County, meaning those in the area may not have water for days.
We first told you about the water main break during WSB Tonight on Monday night.
The break happened in Brookhaven at the intersection of Clairmont Road and Dresden Drive.
The county said Tuesday night that some 8,800 households and about 20,000 people were being impacted by the break.

Channel 2’s Michael Doudna was out where crews worked and business owners say they were discouraged.
“If it’s going to take all day, that’s very, very discouraging for business,” said Jan Bolgla, owner of Atlanta Vintage Books.
Brendon Watson supervises a car wash. He says that as long as they don’t have water, their business will be severely impacted.

“We have no water at all, not even in the bathroom. Nothing works at all,” Watson said. “We do around 300 to 400 cars a day in the cold season, so today we had zero sales. We did not get one car at all.”
Watson and others will keep waiting on repairs and hoping to have access to water and for customers to start flowing again.
“It’s a big deal. It’s stopping our motion, our sales, our money,” Watson said.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management said the age of the pipe was what caused it to break.
The county said the cast iron pipe was installed in 1941.
DeKalb County is currently asking people in the area to conserve water if they have any running at all.

- Fire Station 1 – 1670 Clifton Rd.
- Fire Station 3 – 24 N. Clarendon Ave.
- Fire Station 7 – 1712 Columbia Dr.
- Fire Station 9 – 3858 N. Druid Hills Rd.
- Fire Station 20 – 2919 Warren Rd.
