The suspect, Regi Knight, is accused of trying to sell a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The car ad attracted out-of-town buyers, many of whom had cash, like Javier Pelletier.

“I’ve been trying to get her a car like that for memories. It brings back a lot of good memories,” said Pelletier.

Pelletier lives in Florida but drove to DeKalb County after seeing a Facebook Marketplace ad.

He had a dashcam on his truck capturing the moments he pulled up to a home on Chesnut Hill Circle in DeKalb County. Then moments later, a masked man came towards his car with a gun.

“When I look up, I see this guy with a gun to my friend and then he starts walking to me. He clicked it and tried to shoot me, in my mind I said, “Why is this guy trying to shoot me”,” said Pelletier.

Pelletier tried to drive away. He circled the block and moments later his car was hit head-on by Knight. The masked man ran up to him and took his cash.

“When I count my money, I was missing exactly $5,000,” said Pelletier.

Pelletier is one of three cases that Knight is now charged with. Another man said he met the suspect at the same house and was not only robbed but carjacked. A third victim was shot on Preston Drive. The robberies lasted weeks until U.S. Marshals eventually arrested Knight.

Pelletier not only lost his cash but his truck is totaled. But he’s thankful he wasn’t shot.

“I’m not going to die over money,” Pelletier said.

Knight is locked up without a bond.
