What will the NFL Draft held virtually look like for Atlanta Falcons?

It won’t be long until names are called during the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft this week.

For the first time in the league’s history, the draft will be held virtually. All 32 teams will be in separate locations with only phones and internet to communicate.

So that means Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff will be conducting the draft out of their respective homes.

The Falcons have the 16th overall selection in the first round.

Dimitroff spoke with Channel 2 sports director Zach Klein about what his draft night war room will look like.

Dimitroff said he will run point by himself at his home. He will be connected with other members of the front office and head coach Dan Quinn via video chats.

The general manager did joke drafting players from his house could have unintended consequences if fans unhappy with his picks stopped by.

Dimitroff told Klein he and his staff will have plenty of mock draft practice runs to try and work out any technical issues before hand. He said he is a little worried about being on his cellphone with the pick and the call dropping.

Ahead of the draft, all individual meetings and interviews with potential draft picks were held via internet video conferencing.

It’s a challenging time for sure. But Quinn feels he and his staff are making the most of the technologies at their disposal.
