Before coming to AHS, I was in a good home with other cats for 8 years but, sadly, my owner had to relinquish us. I'm a quiet, friendly, senior guy living in a foster home with my twin, Dancer, and several other cats--we all get along great Dancer and I have been together since birth and would love to be adopted together, if possible And, AHS will let you adopt the two of us for one adoption fee! Adoptable pets from the Atlanta Humane Society Hi, I'm Cooper! I absolutely love people and being pet (and snuggled) is probably my favorite activity. I also am learning to go on runs with my foster mom, which is a different kind of fun. I walk well on a leash and enjoy being around dogs and cats. I'm pretty much a get-along type of guy. However, I do have some special needs. You see, I was born with only one kidney and it doesn't seem to be working perfectly. I'm not sure how this will affect my future, but I'm okay for now. I just have to eat special food and will need to be checked by a vet regularly. Unfortunately, this does make me leak a little bit. The nice people at the Atlanta Humane Society have done several things to try to fix my kidney and bladder, but I will likely need to wear a diaper or belly band for the rest of my life. Before this, someone had me TNR'd, a service provided to help with the overpopulation of feral cats. This is why the tip of my ear is cut, it is a universal sign to other people that an feral cat has already been neutered. However, I'm not a feral cat! I've been in a loving foster home nursing and caring for my kitten for the last 2 months. I love getting my energy out by hiking, running, walking, and playing tug-of-war. When I'm not out exploring with my foster family, I love getting lots of scratches and pets in between my mid-day snoozes. The outdoor sights and smells are very exciting to me so I tend to pull while on walks, but I am working on my leash behavior every day. Learning new tricks with my foster parents is really fun - so far I'm really good at "sit" and "shake", and I'm getting better at "lay down" and "wait". I'd love a patient owner that I can learn more manners from. While I haven't had too many interactions with other dogs yet, I am very curious to meet other four-legged creatures to see how I would get along with them. We were scared here at the shelter, even though the staff + volunteers gave us lots of treats and cuddles. I recently went on a Dog Day Adventure out of the shelter with one of the volunteers, and we had a great time! She said that I am very sweet, didn't bark, and had a good time meeting another pup along the way. However, I don't always like every new dog I meet. I love to meet other people and I love to be petted! I enjoyed the car ride, am very strong and pull on the leash so I will need some training--I hope you can help me with that. I also like to jump on people when I first meet them, but I calm down. I would do best with an experienced dog owner who is active so we can get lots of exercise outdoors (maybe hiking, jogging) together. I love sitting next to my people and getting petted on my head, neck, chest, and upper back--basically, I love getting attention of any kind. I am getting more confident each day, but would do best in a quiet home. I am a bit fearful of everything since I didn't have much of a chance to socialize with people or other dogs when I was younger. I don't show aggression or growl--I just like to stay in my corner and hide sometimes. I am heartworm positive, but the cost of my treatment will be covered by AHS. I came to AHS from another animal shelter, and while living there, I lived in a kennel with other dogs, and we got along great. If you have another dog at home, please consider bringing them in to meet me. I don't have any known history with cats or children, but I'd love to meet your children to see if we'd get along! I am mostly housebroken and might require a little bit more training once I get home with you to completely master it, but I'm a smart girl and learn quickly. Speaking of training, I'd love to take an obedience class or two to bond with and learn alongside you! I'll let you know when I'm feeling affectionate by purring loudly and headbutting your hands. I enjoy quiet and peaceful spaces to play and time to get to know my humans. I feel most confident when I'm given plenty of time to explore at my own pace. My favorite toys are fabric mice, sticks of silvervine, and I love my wand feather toy so we can play together. Some of my favorite places are small nooks like a cardboard box and my favorite cat hut. My foster Mom also says, I am smart and love a good puzzle feeder.
