STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — A man has died after opening fire on top of Stone Mountain and shooting himself after being confronted by police.
Stone Mountain Park police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that witnesses heard six shots being fired between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., but no one was injured.
Police told Channel 2′s Courtney Francisco that they shut down the mountain and park and started a manhunt with Georgia State Patrol.

Around 6:30 p.m., an officer spotted a man matching the description of the suspect. That person climbed over the fence at the top of the mountain. When officers confronted him, he shot and killed himself. His identity has not been released.
NewsChopper 2 flew over the park and saw dozens of police units in a parking lot.
Investigators say they are still working to determine if anyone else was involved in the shooting.

Stone Mountain Park is closed on Thursday night, but will reopen on Friday.
Those staying at the hotels and campgrounds at the park can now get inside.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist in the investigation.
